Youth Theatre Winterim
SMYT Winterim 2026: An Ogre’s Tale is an after-school theatre program designed for students aged 8-18, from those who have no prior experience to those who want to hone their existing skills. Student actors will audition for roles and learn a medley of songs and excerpts from Shrek KIDS All sessions take place in PAC unless noted.
PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED. Cost is $79 and limited to 40 participants.
January 12-16, 2026, 5-7pm
Monday - Auditions for solos/lines followed by read-throughs of music and lines.
Tuesday & Wednesday - Rehearsals for music and lines in breakout groups.
Thursday - Rehearsals for music and lines plus choreography/movement instruction.
Friday - Rehearsal from 5-6 followed by a mini performance at 6:30.
No tickets needed for the mini performance. All are welcome. General admission seating. Run time is approximately 30 minutes.
Location, Parking/Drop Off/Pick-up
All activities will take place at the South Milwaukee Performing Arts Center. Parents should drop off students at Door 9, which will be unlocked from 4:45-5:15 and from 6:45-7:15 daily.
Costumes/Props/Make-Up/Hair
Costume requirements for participants are minimal, and include items they should already have such as black or blue pants/leggings/skirt and solid colored tops. All props and some costume items such as hats will be provided by SMYT. Makeup and hair styles will be kept simple so that students can style on their own or with little assistance from SMYT staff.

Scholarship Information
At South Milwaukee Performing Arts Center, we provide scholarship opportunities for students who because of financial limitations are unable to participate in our performing arts programs. SMPAC's scholarship opportunities come in the form of full and partial scholarships to our Summer Youth Theatre program. A limited amount of scholarships are available each year to those who meet the requirements. All information is confidential and brought before a SMPAC committee.
