Who We Are
South Milwaukee Performing Arts Center (SMPAC) is a professional, school-affiliated performing arts center that is based on a legacy of outstanding theatre and music education. We opened our doors in 2004 after South Milwaukee residents voted “YES” to invest in performing arts education and outreach.
Our mission is to enrich the lives of people of all ages and aesthetics by providing creative, innovative and diverse performing arts, life-long learning experiences and a professional facility for events. We’ve learned a lot about what it takes to serve our school district and partner with others to enhance lives and contribute to the creative economy.
We’re fortunate to have a dedicated and passionate staff, a strong corps of volunteers, and the SMPAC Council. We value the close relationships we’ve made with our patrons, sponsors and donors. We’re grateful to South Milwaukee’s residents, the School District of South Milwaukee and Board of Directors for their vision and support.
Who We Serve
We serve the School District of South Milwaukee, community organizations, professional presenters and businesses throughout the greater Milwaukee area. About 30,000 people visit our theatre each year. Of those, 10-15,000 are unique visitors, comprised of 3,400 district families, arts patrons and rental audiences.
What We Do
We host, present and produce hundreds of events each year, including all of the school district’s music and theatrical events, educational workshops, an annual Performing Arts Series, community outreach events and a summer youth theatre program.
What Makes Us Different
We blend public education with professional performing arts and community service to create new relationships, strong bonds and positive synergies. Our patrons, staff, volunteers and partners share an entrepreneurial spirit and passion for the arts. We’re proud to be a place where people of all ages can share their love of the performing arts.
